Though most of my projects and productions occur in a studio environment, I still regularly work both outdoors and on-location. Whether I’m creating a cinematic mood in my Atelier or crafting an interplay of light and shadow on set, my go-to light is the Flashpoint 600 PRO.
Whenever possible, I pair the 600 PRO to the 600ws extension head. In the studio, this setup allows me to be more creative with light positioning — especially when using a boom arm. While on location, I love that the main head of the strobe can be conveniently carried in a shoulder bag, keeping the load light and flexible for whoever is assisting me.
My preference is always to use the sturdiest possible setup — regardless of where I’m creating. To that end, I’ll usually opt for a traditional Flashpoint 10’ c-stand. For location work, it’s definitely a heavier option but I love the peace of mind that comes with knowing that my gear safe and, more importantly, those that I’m working with are not in harm’s way. Safety first!

The eVOLV 200 Pro is a must-have in my gear bag. The size, power, and price ratio is unmatched. This light is also extremely durable. The power will get you through most situations you find yourself in and the battery life has the ability to get you through an entire day.
While I much prefer to have my lights off-camera, there is almost always a need to have good on-camera light such as the Flashpoint Zoom Li-on X Flash. Not only is the light from this flash beautiful, it can also wirelessly control any of your other Flashpoint lights that are off-camera so you can have the best of both worlds.
The Flashpoint m1 RGB, a little pocket-sized video light, is jam-packed with features. Not only can you use it to a bit of light onto your subject, but you can also use the RGB feature to throw some colored light onto a background. If you shoot video, this light is also equipped with pre-installed lighting effects that will help you replicate things such as flickering bulbs, candles, and even police lights.

The Glow Curved Reflector has been a great tool for affordably leveling up my headshots. Clients always respond positively to the large bright catchlights it creates in their eyes.
For years I applauded the eVOLV 200 as the most versatile piece of lighting equipment out there. While I think that’s still true, I can no longer call it my favorite light. The Xplor 300 Pro, paired with the Glow direct mount 33.4” softbox has been the ideal key light for my on-location portraits. I love its rapid setup and find its output perfect for balancing in bright outdoor conditions.
Photographers often don’t realize the importance of grip until it’s too late — usually after their strobe has its first meeting with a hard floor or body of water. The Flashpoint Junior stand is the first “beyond C-stand” that I’ve purchased and it has been such a wonderful addition to my studio. I use it to effortlessly roll my heaviest setup (Xplor 1200 Pro and Glow 71” parabolic Softbox) throughout the space.
